Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams returned to her native county yesterday to attend Ladies? Day at York racecourse where she made the draw for Saturday?s Betfred Ebor Handicap.

The north London-based boxer became the first woman to win an Olympic boxing gold when winning the flyweight division at London 2012 and was applauded as she entered the winner?s enclosure after arriving on the Knavesmire by helicopter.

The 29-year-old, who trains at Haringey Police Community Amateur Boxing Club, admitted it was her first time at a race meeting as she made the draw for tomorrow?s one mile six furlong contest that is the feature race on the last day of the Ebor Festival.

?The racecourse is fantastic and I am really looking forward to seeing the horses race. This is my first time racing so I am going to have to get some tips,? said Adams who also revealed that she is unlikely to join the professional boxing ranks.

?I think I am going to stay amateur and do 2016,? she added. ?I like the thought of representing my country. That does enough for me.?

The betting for the Ebor on Saturday is headed by the Sir Mark Prescott trained Motivado whose price firmed into 4-1 after receiving a favourable draw in stall number eight.
